THE STUDIO AND SCHOOL
Always ask for the instructor's portfolio before taking lessons in any artistic field!
Many studios only focus on replication of pretty images from photographs.
Not many places provide lessons that focus on concepts (perspective, anatomy, lighting etc) or anything in regards to concept art or digital art.
And such courses are never taught to students as young as middle or high school. Our aim is to provide access to information that would normally be considered early college level, at a way lower cost and earlier point in life. Total Beginner? This is also totally fine as the course starts from ground zero and students of any level can apply the learned concepts onto their own pieces.
We want to give students a solid foundation in developing a portfolio and a head start in their creative career. We provide a whole 2 hour studio session weekly, in small classes, so the students have the required time to process information as well as practice (on top of their school art classes). And we offer makeup sessions for members in case they miss class.
We have the perks of a school environment; but more fun, and without grades…
WHY US?
-
One of the only studios in Houston that is making concept art fundamentals, anime or world building lessons accessible to a younger crowd as well as adults.
-
Small class sizes (capped at 10-12) to maximize individual feedback and growth.
-
More affordable than other studios targeting the same age range (with higher quality instruction).
-
No extra registration or supplies fee. Rates are direct and most supplies are provided.
-
Only studio that provides makeup sessions for regular students who miss.
-
Some classes are online/hybrid for those who live far away (with option of meeting in person). Students living in the suburbs of Houston can also elect to meet once or twice a month in person.
-
Instructor always does demos and directly gives ALL students individual feedback on their work.
-
The structured program guarantees that all fundamentals are covered, and also allows the instructor to know each student's strengths and weaknesses.
We also want to expand the Houston art community for adults/ families too! One time Pop-up classes are available for those who want to be better at drawing or painting as a hobby, first timers who want to try art in a fun environment, couples looking for a fun date, or artists who just need a space to create.

A message from the instructor:
“People tend to think that Concept art /Illustration and Fine art are two different worlds. From the high school art teachers who ban anything anime, to some students who resist the idea of drawing a still life.
While they do serve different purposes, they are, in reality, very connected. The studio becomes the bridge of the two worlds while also building both sides. Concept Art relies heavily on a solid grasp on fundamentals, observational drawing/ rendering and cultural research. You can't draw a character with a cape or in armor if you can't draw fabric or render metal. Even abstraction and patterns can play a big role in strengthening the visual variety in the work. We want to make that transition/connection between traditional and digital easy …all while having fun! Remember, no grades...only growth!”
